Deviation Actions
I have recently been retained by one of my clients who I am working with to do their website. They have asked me to stay on in helping with their business design team, where they will need people to create vector designs for laser engraving on things such as iPads, laptops and netbooks, to even things like food such as a soft tortilla shell, oranges or bananas. You name it, they will pretty much engrave it.
I'm somewhat recruiting talented designers to help with the project and introducing them to my client. So far I have added someone from deviantART whom I have worked with on a previous job for another client of mine. Her name is Holly Ferris and you can see more of her work on her dA page here: girl-with-a-pencil.deviantart.…
** If you are a designer who works in illustrator, or even using the pen tool in photoshop, and would like to get involved in a recurring, paid role to help, let us know. I'm not sure how many designers they need total, but I'm sure they would like to have some more contacts to fill out the roster down the road. We will be adding a section to their site as well for artists who's work they actually have used on engraved items, to both promote you as well as being paid for the work you do for them. **
If you would like to find out more and get involved, contact them directly through their website. We are still a few weeks off from launch since we are still designing the site, but the contact form is up and working, so stop by and say hello:

Vader
My Vader painting was picked for the Darth Vader Fan Club on dA: http://darth-vader-fanclub.deviantart.com/
So honored to be added to such a great collection of work attributed to Star Wars and Darth Vader.

Artist Spotlight : Holly Ferris
Holly http://girl-with-a-pencil.deviantart.com/ is an illustrator, who turns her freehand art into digital paintings. I recruited Holly for a project we did a few months ago. We needed to recreate my clients logo for a large scale print job where our source files were not capable of being used for such a feat. Holly took the time to redraw the entire image many times larger, as well as sharpening the image details above and beyond our expectations.

A Silver Lining
Well, I launched a new Wordpress theme today. Apt'ly named, "A Silver Lining" I spent about three days working on it, trying to merge some plugins into a default admin panel for the theme. Everything was working great on my dev server, but once I moved it to my main site, it was complete failbus. Turned out that some of the code from the plugin, while rendering on my one server was fine, wouldn't execute properly on the other server. I thought maybe it was a bug in Wordpress since I had version 3 on the one and version 3.0.1 on the other. I eventually figured out that the script wasn't actually broken, but in fact was working, just not as I i
Managing my own business
Been really busy with things lately trying to get my business off the ground. Work comes and goes, moving in waves, kind of like a bell curve. Nothing one minute, then picks up for a while, then slows down again and repeats. Keeping that momentum is really challenging, but I think that with any new business this is probably normal. Do you run your own business? Any tips or pointers or pitfalls you can share?
I'm looking for work, so if you have something you need done, a website, or graphic design work, check out my site! http://www.ticktockcomputers.com/
I have also helped artists from Deviant Art find work from time to time when I need an
